Volunteer Opportunities

How do CONTACT, Inc. volunteers make a difference in our community?

  • Volunteers receive training on active listening; how to find local resources and specific steps to take during crisis situations.
  • They call our Reassurance Clients.  Reassurance Clients are individuals who may be homebound; recently home from the hospital or wanting someone to check in on them daily.
  • CONTACT, Inc. has frequent callers who many times call in simply to speak with an understanding and caring person anonymously.
  • Our Crisis Helpline is the afterhours answering service of Piedmont Community Services.

  • Flexible schedules are available: 5 different shifts a day to choose from in 4 hour increments. (8 hours overnight)

We offer many services to our community. After you complete the 18-hour training, you are now a Crisis Line Specialist.  CONTACT, Inc. requests new volunteers to schedule a minimum of two shifts (4 hours each) per month for a year.

Call our office to register (276-638-8980) or download the Volunteer Registration form.
